Introduction
The pool is the foundation of your project and is the best
place to start with quality. A rough rule of thumb with small to medium
water features is that water will splash as far as it drops. This
means a four foot spray in an eight foot pool.
When installed above grade the pool will add its height, making the top
of our spray example 5 6 in a typical 18 pool.
(We also offer wind controls to bend the rules further!)
In
addition to our standard pools we offer special circular models with a rolled
edge. These include a molded wireway for the cords to exit the pool.
These also accept a spray screen to reduce the splash of falling water.
Although this will not help in high winds, it otherwise "cheats" the
spray height rule, and makes this style ideal for interior applications.
These pools are available in 36 & 48 inch in polyethylene and 52, 72, &
94 inch in fiberglass.
Above ground installation is as easy
as setting the pool on a level compacted surface and surrounding it with rock or
interlocking landscape block. An
earth berm and ground cover may be used to surround partial in-ground pools.
Fiberglass Pools
Fiberglass
pools offer a superior solution to liners or concrete.
These pools offer an all-season solution that does not need to be drained
in the winter, simplifying care while protecting components.
Unlike thin plastic that sag or crack under the weight of rocks,
fiberglass can be used in or above ground.
The result is a quality installation for homeowners and landscape
professionals who demand a job done right the first time.
With
dozens of shapes and sizes there is a pool to fit most needs.
Pools can be ordered with a spillway to form header pools or equipped
with fittings for fill and drain lines. The
choice of a geometric or freeform shape is a personal one, but a pool with a
similar length and width will be better for most spray nozzles.
The choice of coping (limestone, rock, etc.) can do as much to influence
the formal or informal appearance of your project as the pool shape
itself.
If you are
undecided whether to take the decorative fountain or water garden route,
endeavor to select a shape that gives you enough depth and surface area so you
can switch at a later date.
Pools
up to 8' in width are single piece. 10' and larger pools are modular to
permit conventional shipping and require field assembly.
Modular designs allow even 14 pools to be
shipped to (and through) your door.
Freeform
shapes allow water feature construction with a natural appearance. Our largest
is 19 long and 2000 gallons!
A garden pool with fish and plants should have depth
and volume not to freeze to the bottom in winter or be a thermal yo-yo in the
summer.
Fiberglass makes it
easy to install the pool just above grade to keep out ground water or add a rock
border without crushing the pool.
Atlantic Fountains
offers a variety of spillways and bio-filters to complete your project.
We can help size the pump and lighting components for the type of project
you have in mind.
